About NAMI Sacramento
NAMI Sacramento is a self-supporting 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the Sacramento Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. It is a grassroots, self-help, volunteer support and advocacy organization of consumers, family members and friends of persons afflicted with serious brain disorders (mental illnesses), such as schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, major depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders among others.
NAMI Sacramento Multicultural Outreach
NAMI Sacramento is working to increase our membership and better represent the community in terms of ethnicity.
Last year NAMI Sacramento received a grant from the national NAMI organization for multicultural outreach. Our team, led by previous board member Valentin Lopez, enlisted leaders from local cultural groups to reach our diverse Sacramento population and gather information about cultural approaches to mental illness. We thank Val for many long hours devoted to this project. Read the final grant report here. If you are interested in reading the report attachments, please contact us.
