Sacramento County Issues: Folsom Oaks Apartments

Need for Affordable Housing

There is no affordable housing in Folsom for people with special needs. Folsom Oaks Apartments is a planned apartment development for the disabled providing affordable housing and supportive services for 18 people. There are already 158 low income people who may be eligible.

City Council Approves Permit and Funding

An update from Paul S. Powell, Ed.S., C.R.C., Associate Director of Transitional Living and Community Support, Inc. Here is a summary of the joint Folsom City Council Redevelopment Agency meeting on May 22, 2007:

  1. The City Council passed a resolution to approve the Planned Development Permit for our development of a 19-unit Apartment Community (Folsom Oaks) on the 1.25 acre parcel located at 809 Bidwell Street.
  2. The City Council passed a resolution to approve $200,000 in funding to support the development of 18 very-low income residential units and 1 Manager's unit.

Now that we have the necessary entitlements in place, we will continue work to secure the necessary funding to bring this project to fruition.

Many thanks to each and every one of you for your enduring support.
